Age 12

Ayesha comes from a big family of 9, and they live in Bhiwandi, India. Her father is a loom worker and earns around $120 monthly. Ayesha’s mother is a homemaker who cares for the family, but she suffers from kidney stones. Doctors advised her to undergo surgery, but due to their financial condition, they were unable to afford the costly surgery, so the youngest child was given up for adoption when he was 20 days old to pay for the mother’s surgery.

Even though Ayesha has a big family where her father has to support 8 members in the house, her father wants to provide them with a good education. Ayesha had to discontinue her education when she was just 7 years old due to constant sickness; she was later diagnosed with Pneumonia. She has since completed the 3rd grade and now attends Udaan. Ayesha has a strong desire to advance in life. Her dream is to become a doctor.
