Age 9

Istekhar and his siblings were studying until they had to move from their village closer to Mumbai for medical treatment for Istekhar’s younger brother, who was ill. They are now in Bhiwandi.

Istekhar's father works as a mason earning around $7 per day; his mother works as a seamstress earning less than $2 daily. They both work hard to support their children, but their financial needs are dire.

Their father believes in education and wants his children to continue learning, so he enrolled Istekhar and his siblings in Udaan, our child development center. At Udaan, Istekhar is a disciplined child and is active in class. Growing up watching his sibling suffer, he dreams of becoming a doctor, treating patients, and healing people. Istekhar needs the support of a donor to continue his education and pursue his dreams.
