Age 13

Jannatnisha is the third daughter in the family. They live in the slum community of Bhiwandi and her father, a day laborer, and her mother, who works at a jeans manufacturing company, earn a combined income of $5 a day.

Jannatnisha’s mother suffers from an eye disease, and sadly, her eldest sister died of Tuberculosis a couple of years ago. Her other siblings are also studying and her family wants them to pursue an education.

Now Jannatnisha wants to continue her schooling and support her family financially. She is attending Udaan regularly and hopes to become a teacher.
