Age 8

Kartik is the youngest child in a family of 6 members. They live in the slum community of Bhiwandi, and his father earns around $6 daily as he works in a loom factory. His 3 older sisters are all enrolled in a government school, but Kartik could not attend. Kartik is an intelligent boy interested in studies, which led his mother to enroll him at Udaan. Being the only son, Kartik has the burden of providing for his family.

He would like to earn money to give his father when he grows up. He dreams of becoming a doctor to help people suffering from illnesses. Kartik concentrates in class and is learning as much as possible, but he needs a sponsor to ensure he can continue his education.
