Age 13

Nida lives in the slums of Bhiwandi with her family. Nida completed 4^th grade but then dropped out of school and began making bead chains from home, along with her sisters, to help support her family. Nida's mother is a seamstress earning only $1.50 - $2.50 daily. Her father is an alcoholic and doesn't contribute financially to the family.  

Nida's mother wants her children to receive an education, so she enrolled her daughters in Udaan. Nida is learning to read, and her dream is to become a police officer someday and care for her family. Nida needs a sponsor to help support her education.
