Age 13

Samara’s parents have 7 children and work hard to make ends meet where they live in the slum community of Bhiwandi, India. Her father works as a laborer earning a mere $6 a day, and her mother is a homemaker.

Because of a financial crisis, Samara only finished 8th grade and was forced to quit school. Now Samara attends classes at Udaan and also participates in various activities. She is ambitious, and her dream is to become a doctor. Samara needs a sponsor to help her reach her dream.
