Age 11

Shahenshah lives in the Bhiwandi slums with his 9 siblings and parents. Shahenshah's father works in the loom factory for $6 a day. Shahenshah's mother quit her job due to illness. Shahenshah works with his 12-year-old brother at a garment company, and his 11-year-old sister and his 10-year-old brother both work in a packing company. The other 5 sisters stay home playing on the streets. Shahenshah shows a keen interest in learning at Udaan. He always completes his homework, is very interactive, and answers most of the questions in the class.

He is a curious kid with big dreams. He desires to become a doctor in the future. He always thinks of his family and feels his situation at home may force him to go to work instead of learning. Shahenshah needs a sponsor to support his education and future.
