Age 10

Ujala lives in a rented home in Bhiwandi with her parents and 3 siblings. She attended school until 3rd grade while they were living in a village. Her family moved to Bhiwandi, near Mumbai, in search of job availability.

Ujala’s father works as a laborer on a construction site and earns around $120 monthly. Her mother does pearl beading and makes about 50 cents a day.

Now Ujala is attending school at Udaan and is very happy. Ujala is a smart and good student. Her ambition is to become a teacher.
