Arshad lives with his widowed mother and 2 brothers in Bhiwandi. After his father’s death, Arshad’s mother moved the family to Bhiwandi seeking better job opportunities. She works in a nearby company earning $84 a month and is able to support her family.

Arshad’s mother found out about Udaan through a neighbor and quickly enrolled all three of her sons in Udaan. Young Arshad aspires to become an engineer so he can support his mother and brothers. Arshad is quiet and shy in nature but is making friends in the classroom. Arshad performs well in art class.
