Age 16

Gausiya wants to become a doctor one day. Before attending Udaan, she had only completed 8th grade. She now attends Udaan with her younger sister and two older sisters attend Udaan's tailoring classes. Some of her older siblings are married, and some work to support the family with incomplete education.

Gausiya's large family of 10 live in a tiny house. Sadly, she had a younger sibling die. Her mother is chronically ill and receiving treatment. Gausiya's father works from home, stitching decorative stones onto cloth material; her mother helps him as she is physically able. Their family income is somewhere between $4 - $6 daily.
