Jishan lives with his family in a small house in the slum community of Bhiwandi. Jishan's mother takes care of the children at home. His father works as a tailor in a clothes factory far from Bhiwandi, where his daily wage is around $6. Sadly, Jishan's family suffered the loss of his 8-year-old brother, who died from an illness. The family spent a lot of money on his treatment, leaving them in financial hardship.

While Jishan's siblings had all been enrolled in school, Jishan himself had not yet attended school. After Udaan opened, Jishan's mother enrolled him, and now Jishan attends school, learning more daily. A sponsor is needed for Jishan to continue his education.
