Age 13

Naazmeen lives in the slums of Bhiwandi with her family and is the 5th of 7 siblings. When Naazmeen was 7 years old, her mother divorced her father, who was an alcoholic. He did not believe girls should receive an education, and they were never sent to school to learn. His drinking caused financial hardship and great conflict in their home. He died of alcoholism 3 years ago. Now Naazmeen's family lives in a rented house with only her mother’s small income supporting the family.

Recently, Naazmeen's elder sister enrolled herself and Naazmeen at Udaan. She wants them to receive an education so they can be empowered to be financially independent. Naazmeen is also learning at Udaan and trying to decide what her future dreams and goals are.
