Age 17

Sadiya, along with her parents and 6 sisters, lives in the slums of Bhiwandi. Her father's daily income is around $6 as a driver, while her mother and older sister work together in a small clothing factory. Since her sister, mother, and father go to work, Sadiya is left to take care of the house and her younger sisters. Sadiya's parents are elderly and find working full-time very tedious, so Udaan presented a great opportunity for their daughters to be educated without burdening the family.

Sadiya wants to become a teacher to provide children in need with a good education. She also has an interest in sewing and gaining computer knowledge. Sadiya sometimes feels obligated to support her parents at home because she doesn't have a brother to take on that traditional role, so she does her best to fulfill her duties. She needs the support of a sponsor to provide for her continuing education.
