Farhat lives in the slums of Bhiwandi. She has 5 brothers and sisters. Her father is an auto driver who earns $6 a day, and her mother works in the pearl/bead stringing business, where she earns less than $2 a day. Their father doesn't provide for them, so Farhat and her siblings could not complete their education. Instead, her brothers and sisters help by working in garages and sewing dresses at home to earn a living.
