Age 14

Alisha lives in Bhiwandi with her family. She attended school through 8th grade and, due to family hardship, stayed home for 2 years.

Alisha has a big family, including 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Her parents live in a small rented house and struggle to make ends meet. Her father works as a loom operator in Bhiwandi, earning $6 a day, and her mother works stringing pearls for less than $2 a day and suffers from severe back pain. Alisha’s older siblings have only attended elementary school and had to start working to help out financially.

Alisha resumed her education at Udaan. She is a good student and likes to study and learn new things. Alisha wants to help her family in whatever way she can. She needs a sponsor to help her continue her education.
