Faran lives with his large family of 9 people (Faran, his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters) in Bhiwandi, India. They moved there to find work. His father does intricate gold thread weaving, called Zari, earning just under $10 a day, and his mother is a homemaker but is often ill.

For 2 years Farhan stopped going to school and would often roam the streets with a friend. Now that he is enrolled at Udaan, he loves to attend school and learn. He is participating in various activities and he is a good student. His parents are overjoyed at his involvement in Udaan. He has a bright future.
