Age 11

Hashim’s father is a loom worker who earns about $122 a month. His mother makes less than $1 daily by beading pearls from home. They are supporting a large family of 9 and living in the slum community of Bhiwandi.

In early 2023, Hashim’s mother was diagnosed with tuberculosis and began medical treatment. The burden of the house fell on his father. To help out, Hashim’s siblings started working in small jobs available to help support the family financially.

Young Hashim aspires to become a pharmacist and likes to help people in need.
