Age 7

Afreen lives with her grandparents, parents, brothers, and sisters in the slum community of Bhiwandi. Her father works as a loom worker in a factory for $6 per day, and her mother and grandmother string pearls at home, where they earn less than $2 a day. Afreen sometimes helps her grandmother and mother in the bead-stringing process. However, Afreen's parents wanted their children to attend school and enrolled them all at Udaan.

Afreen dreams of one day becoming a doctor to help people. Afreen cares for her family and wants her parents to be with her lifelong so she can care for them. Afreen needs a sponsor to support her education and future.
